There is almost nothing to hate about a Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris). They back bud almost better than any other tree, the needles grow naturally very short, they are very flexible and bark up almost as well as a black pine.
Here at Left Coast Bonsai we are obsessed with Scots pine (if you can't tell). We are trying to spread to love with this release of some larger pines from our collection.
This tree is in a 4" pot and has had root work to help set up a great root system and establish a nebari.
We wired it into what I like to call a calligraphy style. It will make a fantastic small bunjin.
