Korean Hornbeam (Carpinus coreana) makes a nice bonsai when older and is relatively rare in the USA.
This tree is growing in a 1 gallon pot and is about as thick as a sharpie.
It has nice movement and will make a fantastic smaller tree within a few years, or can be grown out to make a larger tree.
